It was born out of our inherent human curiosity that makes the unknown irresistible.
ENIGMA is an innovative synthesizer fully controlled by the position and movement of metallic objects. Through a unique interface developed by SOMA, every metal object placed on the surface is transformed into sound. The shape, size, and type of object are entirely up to you. Coins, screws, fragments, gears, tools, and any other metallic artifacts will work. The interface sensitivity is extremely high — even a fractional millimeter shift of an object can alter the sound.
MIDI and CV clock sync are included , as well as MIDI note control.
SCRATCHPROOF
While it is supposed to use metallic objects for a performance, of course it is very important that the playing surface will last a long time. To ensure maximum durability, we use high-quality industrial grade film that is scratch-resistant.
And here is an evidence that it works really well:
During SuperBooth 2026 we exposed several ENIGMAs during 3 days. All of them were constantly busy 9 hours per day.
For experimenting, we provided different objects including heavy ones as well as ones with sharp edges.
Many visitors were captivated with playing, and moved the objects on the ENIGMAs surface expressively.
