Please note, installing SimplexFM on your MetaConformer removes its MetaConformer MIDI functionality. You will need to reinstall the MetaConformer firmware in order to use it in that role again.

First download SimplexFM firmware from here:

      Firmware / Metaconformer

      Installation instructions:
      1) Connect MetCon to your computer where you downloaded the SimplexFM firmware
      2) While holding the CFG button, press the RST button. Once it’s detected by your computer, all its LEDs will turn on and Windows will open MetCon in Explorer, showing an empty folder. Sometimes it takes several tries before it makes a connection, it’s normal.
      3) Copy the new firmware into the empty MetCon folder.
      4) Rename the file to blink.bin
      5) Click on Safely Eject, then disconnect MetCon

Now your MetaConformer has been transformed into the SimplexFM synth, for which you can find the manual here:

        Hello,

I have tried multiple times to install the SimplexFK update, but it doesn’t work. After downloading it as described, pressing the CFG button let it in an ongoing green state and not blinking, and while pressing the parameters, I can’t hear any sound. I have am Mac with a M3 Chip on Sonoma 14.5..

What can be the problem ans how can I solve it?

Were you able to place the firmware in the MetCon folder and rename it to blink.bin?

Hello. I am having the same problem. I follow the directions but all I hear is faint clicking when the midi is being engaged, like striking the keys or moving the mod wheel. The only light I get is the green CFG or the eighth amber light when I push the LRN button. When I hold down “arrow left” the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, lights turn on in sequence, then 5th, 6th, 7th, lights light up in sequence after a short pause. They all stay on until the sequence ends then quickly all shut off at the same time.

I hope you can help! I love your products I own (lyra 8 and ROAT) and Im so excited to play with this beauty!

            Thanks!

I should add that I successfully installed the MC firmware again and tried SXFM after that with no success.

                Please try these steps:

I was able to connect MetaConformer to my computer, copied the SimplexFM firmware file into MC’s folder and renamed it to blink.bin, but I am not getting any sound from it.

-check which type (A or B) your MIDI cable is and make sure MetaConformer has the switch set to the corresponding position.

-make sure your MIDI cable is connected to the LEFT midi input on MetaConformer.

-make sure your audio cable is connected to the output all the way to the right on MetaConformer, and that the audio cable is connected to a mixer and the volume is turned up on the mixer

-make sure your MIDI keyboard or sequencer is set to Channel 5,6,7,8

If you’ve been randomly pressing buttons and making button combinations on MetaConformer with the SimplexFM firmware installed, trying to get it to make sound, it’s likely you changed settings. Some button combos can make the synth silent, or change the MIDI channels etc. So once you’ve verified that all cables are inserted correctly, your sequencer is sending messages to channels 5,6,7, or 8, it’s a good idea to reset all SimplexFM voices as follows:

To init all voices to default settings.
to init voice 1, press and hold < + button 1 for 3 seconds
to init voice 2, press and hold < + button 2 for 3 seconds
to init voice 3, press and hold < + button 3 for 3 seconds
to init voice 4, press and hold < + button 4 for 3 seconds
Do this in sequence, you have to do it for each voice separately.
If you still are unable to get sound after following these steps, please make a video of your setup and the installation process (so we see how you install the SimplexFM firmware and how your MetaConformer is connected) and send it to [email protected]
