I tried a bunch of different kinds of cables and adapters and actually managed to record it once, but I couldn’t reproduce it. I realize that a smartphone earphones/mic hybrid cable is different than a regular rca cable, but I’m not sure what kind of cable I need to do this.

You SHOULD be able to do this using a TRRS to TS cable but I haven’t tried it myself.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll give it a try. So, the TRRS end goes into the phone, and the TS end into the Ether?
